Powerful & Strong

Luxury clothing brand, Serino Studio, wanted their excess inventory to go to vulnerable members of the New York City community. They contacted Projects With Care to see if we could put them to good use, and our domestic violence shelters were ecstatic to receive them. Most of the people who enter their crisis shelters have only the clothes on their backs when they arrive, and they wanted to give them the opportunity to use the Serino Studio clothes to go to work or interview for employment.

The shelter director phoned to say she was delighted and amazed by the beautiful clothing and was truly grateful. She created a “boutique” for the clients to browse and “shop”, restoring some dignity to these women.

When we told Serino how grateful the shelter was, they responded, “That’s amazing! Those women deserve to feel powerful and strong.”

Projects With Care Club at Packer Collegiate

At Projects With Care, we're proud to highlight the incredible efforts of the Projects With Care Club at Packer Collegiate. Recently, the club's members came together with compassion and determination to assemble 80 feminine hygiene kits. These kits were generously donated to the young women's empowerment group at SCAN-Harbor's Reverend Wendell T. Foster Recreation Center, providing essential support to those in need.

This collaboration embodies the spirit of community helping community, as students from Packer Collegiate extended a helping hand to empower and uplift young women in our city. Such acts of kindness not only address immediate needs, but also foster a sense of solidarity and hope. We applaud the dedication of the Projects With Care Club and celebrate their impactful contribution to creating positive change in the lives of others.

Every Child Deserves A Place To Sleep

At Projects With Care, we are committed to responding to the urgent needs of our community, especially when it comes to supporting vulnerable populations. When one of our partner shelters reached out for assistance with the influx of migrant children arriving and facing the harsh reality of having to sleep on cold floors, we knew immediate action was needed. Through the generosity of our supporters, Projects With Care raised funds and purchased 300 sleeping bags.

Each child received not only a sleeping bag, but also pajamas, a stuffed animal for comfort, and a children's book to provide solace and distraction during a challenging time. These essentials provide physical comfort and offer a sense of security and warmth amidst uncertainty. As these children navigate through the asylum process, we stand with them, ensuring they feel cared for and supported every step of the way. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Meaningful Impact

At Projects With Care, we believe in the transformative power of partnerships and the ripple effect of generosity. When ESW saw an ad in the elevator of their office building and noticed our call for sponsors for the Project First Day program, they stepped up in an extraordinary way. In accordance with their yearly laptop upgrade policy for staff, ESW graciously offered one-year-old, newly refurbished laptops for donation if we could find deserving students to benefit from them.

Recognizing the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, we reached out to two different agencies, and their response was overwhelming. These agencies shared stories of accomplished students in their shelters who had been awarded college scholarships, but lacked the means to afford laptops. The donation of these laptops provided practical tools for education, and also instilled a sense of equality and belonging in these students, allowing them to fully engage in their studies and feel on par with their peers. This act of kindness exemplifies the ethos of Projects With Care and underscores the importance of collaboration in creating positive change within our community.
