At Projects With Care, we believe families facing hardship deserve more than survival—they deserve dignity and self-esteem. While food and shelter are vital, our programs go beyond basic essentials to restore a sense of belonging to families who often feel overlooked.

For the thousands of children living in New York City shelters, the first day of school can feel like a spotlight on what they don’t have. Project First Day provides everything they need—a backpack, a new outfit, fresh supplies, and the confidence to thrive.
For survivors of domestic violence, finding a permanent place to live is a vital step toward healing. But too often, they transition from a shelter to a bare apartment, with no resources to make it livable. Project Welcome Home provides the bed, bath, and kitchen essentials to create a safe, welcoming home where families can rebuild.
Every family deserves to experience the magic of the holidays—especially in uncertain times. Stockings With Care brings joy to thousands of NYC children by fulfilling their wish lists and placing the gifts directly into their parents’ hands, so families can celebrate and create lasting memories together.
For the children we serve, something as simple as having the right school supplies for the first day of class—or unwrapping a holiday gift—changes everything. It protects them from the pain of feeling “less-than” or left out. It helps them make friends, build self-esteem, and experience the joy of childhood like their peers.
For their parents, the inability to provide what they need—especially at meaningful milestones like the first day of school and the holidays—is heartbreaking. The weight of feeling inadequate and hopeless in those moments can deeply wound their sense of worth.
