At PROJECTS WITH CARE, we are driven by one simple, yet powerful belief: every child deserves to feel cherished, supported, and uplifted, no matter their circumstances. Since our founding in 1992 by Rosalie Joseph and Tom Fontana, our mission has been to bring hope, comfort, and love to the hearts of children and families in need across New York City. To date, we've had the privilege of touching the lives of over 70,000 children, offering not just resources, but the reassurance that someone cares deeply for them.

What began as Stockings With Care—a heartfelt effort to ensure that even the most vulnerable families could experience the magic of Christmas—has grown into something much larger. Over 28 years, through our deep partnerships with NYC’s social service agencies, we have expanded into PROJECTS WITH CARE. Today, we embrace families year-round with initiatives like Project First Day, which ensures children walk into their first day of school with confidence and pride, and Stockings With Care, where the spirit of giving transforms the holiday season into a time of hope and joy for countless families.

But our love and commitment don’t stop with the holidays or school year. Every day, through special projects and collaborations with local social service agencies, we work to fill the gaps, to be there for the families who need us most—because we believe that caring is more than just a gesture; it’s a promise. A promise that no child should ever feel forgotten or invisible.
